Lead, silver, bismuth, indium and antimony were tested on acute and chronic toxicity, as well as on carcinogenicity.

- All metals exhibit low acute toxicity.
- The chronic toxicity of lead and antimony is clearly higher than that of the other metals.
- Antimony, however, shows similar toxicity, and additionally is mutagenic in the tests. The car-conigenicity test of Bi should be considered as negative. Silver, indium and lead did not show evidences of carcinogenicity.
